The Power of GenAI: Yotascale Revolutionizing Cloud Cost Optimization

In recent months, the remarkable progress of Generative AI (GenAI) has sparked a transformative shift across industries, effectively reshaping the landscape. Indeed, every infrastructure team is talking about modernizing their stack. Yotascale has eagerly seized this opportunity, adopting GenAI within our solution as a game-changer.

Introducing Yota Copilot – Revolutionizing Cloud Optimization

With GenAI, Yotascale is revolutionizing cloud cost management by automating 95% of the labor-intensive process of data analysis and correlation. We present Yota Copilot, a virtual cloud cost analyst, who not only understands your role (whether you’re a CTO, engineer, finance professional, or SRE) but also readily provides answers to a wide range of questions. This democratizes access to cloud cost data and empowers individuals at every level, from C-level executives to department heads, to seek answers directly without relying on their teams. We have been working tirelessly with customers to develop this state-of-the-art GenAI assistant.

According to Patryk Sroka at Clickup, “Nobody is doing this today. This [Yota Copilot] has reduced my time spent on cloud cost management from 10 hours a week to 20 minutes. Just amazing.”

Yotascale Innovation Pace Increasing in the Face of Rising Cloud Costs

It is pretty well known now that GenAI adoption is driving steep increases in cloud computing costs while also increasing the complexity of enterprise engineering platforms. IDC reported, shared cloud infrastructure costs increased 13.7% in Q2 of 2023 with a shift towards complex workloads and new AI initiatives. Digital business success now requires strategic management of both external cloud provider costs as well as internal consumption costs simultaneously. This has required Yotascale to increase its pace of innovation to keep up with customer needs. So we launched our Total Platform Cost Management solution a few months back which enables customers to connect the cost of any infrastructure provider including Snowflake, Datadog, Databricks, Splunk, Jira, and many more. With our long-time engineering focus, it was natural for Yotascale to take on Total Platform Cost Management that our customer could integrate management of public cloud infrastructure with platform engineering services.

Jeremy Haber, Cloud Ops Financial Manager at Flatiron Health shares, “We’ve been looking at so many tools to track these different costs, and we couldn’t find one until now. Yotascale is easy and fast to implement, and their team has been great to partner with. We’re all really excited about the partnership.”

Yota Copilot the First-ever FinOps Copilot

Yota Copilot is the first-ever copilot for FinOps. Yotascale is a FinOps Foundation certified solution and has supported the foundation since its introduction. Now as we launch Yota Copilot, we are proud to present a virtual FinOps cost analyst that can support every executive and manager in managing their cloud costs with natural language querying. Yota Copilot jumps in whenever you need any help proactively suggesting common questions, and even anticipating questions based on your prompts. With that let me introduce you to Yota Copilot with a short Q&A interview.

Asim: Hello, Yota Copilot can you introduce yourself?

Yota Copilot: Hi Asim, I’m designed to provide support and assistance with Yotascale’s services. My primary function is to help users understand and manage their cloud costs effectively using Yotascale’s features. I can fetch cost data, provide optimization recommendations, search support documentation for relevant articles, and route complex queries to a Virtual Cost Analyst for deeper insights. I’m here to make your experience with Yotascale as smooth and efficient as possible.

Asim: I have a board meeting in 45 minutes and our CFO just pinged me about how much the SaaS infrastructure of some of our customers is costing us. There is one specific customer, AcmeTech, that he believes we are losing a lot of money on. Can you help?

Yota Copilot: Asim, I am happy to help you with that! It seems like you are looking for the infrastructure cost for AcmeTech, as well as other customers that you may be losing money on because of high infrastructure costs. I will pull the data for the last 30 days and we can take a look.

The total infrastructure cost for our customers for the last 30 days is $5.2M. Across 107 customers, AcmeTech is allocated $1M (~20%) this month. Would you like me to break this cost down further by service or any other attribute?

Asim: That is a lot given their contract is $14.4M a year or $1.2M per month! What do you predict their cost for next year will be?

Yota Copilot: The forecast for AcmeTech’s infrastructure cost over the next year is $13M (22% higher than last year). This forecast is based on the historical data from the past two years and the SARIMA time series model.

Asim: How can we reduce this cost to under $750K/month?

Yota Copilot: There are $225K per month in optimization opportunities identified. 80% of the savings can be achieved by rightsizing compute and database instances.

While this doesn’t get you to under $750k in monthly cost, it certainly gets you closer to the desired number. You may also consider utilizing spot instances for workloads that are tolerant of interruptions. Spot instances allow you to take advantage of unused EC2 capacity at a steep discount compared to the on-demand price. Please let me know if you have any further questions on how to optimize your compute resources.

Asim: Thank you! This is tremendously helpful.

Asim: Thank you Yota Copilot. In closing, what would you say to a Yotascale prospect?

Yota Copilot: As an AI assistant, I’d like to highlight that Yotascale is a leading cloud cost management solution designed to provide you with granular visibility, predictive analysis, and actionable recommendations for optimizing your cloud costs.
